The Central Fill Pharmacy Assistant is the lifeblood of our team at the facility and is needed to fulfill a diverse range of roles, depending on their assigned department. Assistants will be working with pharmacy technicians and pharmacists to ensure that orders transmitted by affiliated pharmacies are fulfilled and shipped out in a timely manner. As a pharmacy assistant, they will be responsible for focusing on the achievement of pharmacy excellence in the areas of workflow efficiencies and inventory management. Assistants will be expected to actively contribute to a positive, but high-volume and productive working environment.

Job Description

  • Receiving inventory, as well as helping to put away daily medication stock orders from suppliers.
  • Filling prescriptions either manually or through pharmacy automation for vials and blister packing.
  • Packaging and shipping prescriptions sent by multiple banner-affiliated stores within Sobeys.
  • Receiving phone calls from stores and assisting them with their transmitted orders.
  • Verifying orders sent from stores for blister packing are correct.
  • Ensuring all orders are completed accurately and with a sufficient level of quality and care.
  • Following instructions given by verifiers (ie. Pharmacy technicians and pharmacists).
  • General housekeeping of the department (ie. Emptying garbage, sweeping the floor, returning used bottles back to stock, preparatory work to ensure smooth workload).

What you have to offer:

Education and Experience:

  • Pharmacy Assistant diploma from a recognized Canadian College.
  • Will consider applicants with 2 years retail Canadian Pharmacy Experience in lieu of diploma.
  • Prior experience in a Central Fill facility not required, but highly preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Above average communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast environment.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Strong ability to adapt and work within a team

The salary range for this position in British Columbia is $19.00 - $23.00. We will consider factors such as your working location, work experience and skills as well as internal equity, and market conditions to ensure that you are paid fairly and competitively.
