British Columbia Central Kitchens, located in Delta, BC, is opening in early Spring 2026, we are looking for an onsite Food Safety & QA Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity that will be responsible for ensuring compliance to Safe Food for Canadian Regulations (SFCR), Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standard requirements, and maintain the facilities Preventive Control Plan (PCP). The role involves working closely with Operations and the Quality Assurance teams to ensure that regulatory and company food safety requirements are adhered to and maintained and ensuring that company and customer quality expectations are met.

Here’s where you’ll be focusing:

  • Develop and implement HACCP plans based on Codex Alimentarius Principles to support the facility’s PCP and meet regulatory requirements
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify potential food safety hazards and implement corrective/preventive actions to address hazards
  • Ensure that CCPs are being monitored and documented per the facility’s HACCP plans and that corrective actions are being appropriately implement/documented when deviations in established CCP critical limits are identified
  • Maintain accurate records of HACCP activities, including and monitoring and corrective actions, to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Provide training to production and quality assurance teams on HACCP principles and procedures, SFCR requirements, and the facility’s selected GFSI standard
  • Conduct and document regular HACCP audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Work with cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve food safety issues and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences
  • Work with Corporate Product Development in maintenance of Ingredient and Packaging Supplier Approval and Labelling documentation
  • Work closely with and support Quality Assurance Technicians
  • Keep up-to-date with changes to HACCP regulations and guidelines and adapt HACCP plans accordingly
  • Ensure that all HACCP documentation, including plans, policies, and procedures, are up-to-date and accurate
  • Maintain fluency with SFCR and GFSI requirements
  • Lead GFSI internal audit program to ensure compliance to the selected standard
  • Lead monthly internal inspections to ensure facility GMP requirements are fully met
  • Other duties as assigned

What you have to offer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in a HACCP or GFSI coordination or food safety role in the food manufacturing industry.
  • Knowledge of SFCR and HACCP.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Work, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Certification in HACCP principles and/or Lead Auditor certification is preferred.
  • As a key member of facility QA/FS, the position acts as a back-up for the QA Manager during the Manager’s absence form the facility; this requires that the QA/FS Coordinator has experience/able to demonstrates the following:
      • Leadership skills
      • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
      • Is able to liaise (communicate and engage) with all facility departments, regulatory authorities (CFIA inspectors), retail and supply partners, and corporate personnel.

The salary range for this position in British Columbia is $73,000.00 - $101,000.00 . We will consider factors such as your working location, work experience and skills as well as internal equity, and market conditions to ensure that you are paid fairly and competitively.
