- We are looking for someone with electrical and mechanical aptitude who is interested in a Maintenance Technician role in a fast-moving food processing plant.
- The ideal candidate would have hands-on experience in electrical and mechanical.
- Journeyman tickets are preferred and strongly valued. The goal of the successful candidate would be to provide the plant with a high level of maintenance expertise, that ensures departmental downtime, meet Company objectives efficiently and to carry out equipment and building repairs as required, while adhering to quality, safety and legislative guidelines.
Here’s where you’ll be focusing:
· Performs all tasks as per recommended job methods, procedures, etc., particularly on the installation, maintenance and repairs of food processing and packaging equipment.
· Carries out preventive maintenance tasks to processing floor and general building maintenance such as:
· Over Head Doors, lighting systems, Fire Alarm, Piping system, Sanitation piping system, sanitation pumps, water pumps, waste pumps, Boilers, HWTs, Booster Pumps and more.
· Maintenance checks and records for Roof Top Units, MUAs, Exhaust Fans, Heating systems, Air compressors, and mobile equipment checks and minor repairs.
· Use of hand and power tools and metering equipment (multimeter, Amp-meter, Gas monitors)
· Mechanical , able to maintain and repair:
· Solenoids, bearings, motors, pumps, gearboxes, chains, belts
· Stainless steel mild welding repairs and fabrication
· UHMW components and parts fabrication
· Safety systems ,able to maintain and repair:
· Inspect equipment to ensure all safeguards are in place and functional, including safety sensors, E-stops, Overloads, limit switches, and photo-eyes.
· Electrical , able to maintain and repair:
· Three Phase and single phase motors replacement, AC and DC Servo Motors, 347Vac Lighting system, light bulb replacement and ballast
· 600Vac, 3ph switchgear
· VFDs, Safety relays, Overcurrent protection devices, photo eyes, pressure transducers, prox, switches, etc…
· Familiarity with thermostats, sensors, transducers and other electrical controls
· HMI knowledge and PLC familiarity would be considered and asset.
· Food Safety, able to maintain and repair:
· Food processing equipment with proper GMPs, and minimize any risk for product cross contamination
· Plans and organizes all aspects of work orders and assignments, in an efficient and productive way.
· Maintains work areas in clean and safe conditions, removing all waste on completion of job, or earlier if necessary.
· Reports all defects, errors in production, and machines which may affect the workplace to the Maintenance Manager
· Work closely and provide guidance and support to contractors and vendors.

What you have to offer:
· Experience in a food processing plant (considered and asset)
· Experience with food processing equipment - proper care and handling.
· Min. of 1-3 years related experience.
· Electrical or Millwright ticketed, or eligible and valid application through the Alberta apprenticeship board for qualification , out of province or other.
· Millwright ticket with great electrical knowledge
· High school diploma (grade 12)
· Be success-driven and have a “can do” attitude.
· Have a good safety record.
· Maintains prompt and courteous response to production team requests within the guidelines set forth by Sunrise Farms.
· Be able to work independently, as well as being a strong team player.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Flexible and adaptable in ever-changing environments, including overtime, weekend work and on-call/support as required
