Here’s where you’ll be focusing:
Reporting directly to the Transportation Manager, the Transportation Team Lead is responsible for all aspects of the trucking operations; drivers and equipment, maintaining oversight of routing, scheduling and dispatch to customers. Adherence to applicable provincial and federal regulatory standards is strictly enforced. Actively contributes to a positive and productive working environment.

Key Business Functions, Responsibilities, and Accountabilities
- Determines the Manpower requirements and staff his/her shift appropriately reacting to any situation affecting his/her planning (Holidays, BOGOs, unplanned events, etc.)
- Monitors and reports the daily productivity information and on time service.
- Explains any variances on productivity
- Schedules equipment maintenance within Provincial Legislated requirements and ensure the safe operation of all Transport vehicles
- Manages absenteeism and employees tardiness
- Recruits, trains, develops, motivates and coaches truck drivers, and provides regular feedback, including administering corrective actions as required
- Communicates any relevant information to the employees
- Demonstrates outstanding leadership, with a clear vision and consistent sense of direction and serves as a role model for employees
- Ensures that the Health and safety rules are being followed
- Ensures that system and tools are being used as instructed
- Reviews all Delivery Sheets and Trip Books
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment as per company requirements
- Other duties as required
Technical Skills Required:
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite
- Good communication skills (both oral and written)
- Results oriented leader, with solid judgment and decision making skills
- Demonstrated successful ability working with cross-functional teams
- Planning and organizing skills
- Strong leadership, teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Excellent judgment and decision making skills
Preferred:
- Working knowledge of CAMS, JDA, XATA, TMT
Educational and Working Experience Required
- Minimum of High School diploma and 2 years of experience in a warehouse or transportation company, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated successful experience leading warehouse or transportation employees
Working Conditions
- Retail support centre
- Physical work including frequent bending, lifting, and reaching
- Occasionally lift over 88 lbs
- Two person lift required for weights exceeding 50 lbs
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Possible exposure to extreme temperatures
- Alertness to other people and vehicles
- Various shifts including evenings and weekends
