The Director of Operations, E-Commerce Vaughan Fulfillment Center will provide strategic and operational leadership for a highly automated, live-production fulfillment center, with full accountability for site performance, customer experience, operational excellence, and financial results. The Director will foster a high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement, employee engagement, health and food safety compliance, and scalable operational excellence while ensuring the fulfillment center consistently delivers against e-commerce growth and profitability objectives.
Here’s where you’ll be focusing:
Manage day-to-day fulfillment center operations
- Own operations and financials of the fulfillment center to deliver e-commerce P&L
- Leverage Ocado warehouse management system and tools to achieve targets for product availability, accuracy, freshness, and waste
- Drive continuous improvement across safety, quality, delivery, cost and people
- Work with forecasting and replenishment and delivery operations team to maximize fulfillment center capacity and receiving dock utilization.
- Oversees Inventory Management at the site, ensuring proper compliance and support with inventory processes, transactional integrity, inventory accuracy, and efficient product flow while driving cross functional alignment and continuous improvement.
- Collaborates with key stakeholders including Planning, IT, HR, Finance, Service Delivery, and Customer Service to support operational excellence and achieve overall business objectives.
- Adhere to and implement all applicable Health and Food Safety program requirements.
- General Understanding and adherence of Food Safety Policies or relevant Standard Operating Procedures such as General Health and Hygiene, Allergen Policy, Temperature Checks, etc.
Lead fulfillment center management and staff
- Be inspirational leader with high performing site leadership team
- Be highly visible, actively engaging with operational teams at all levels
- Cascade strategic objectives, align focus, and instill attention to detail
- Embrace change and always look for better ways of working
- Set high standards of performance and encourage mistakes to be learned from
- Develop culture of integrity, engagement and improvement at all levels
- Work with quality and health and food safety teams on operational standards and processes.
What you have to offer:
- 10+ years experience working in Supply Chain and Logistics for E-commerce or Retail
- Bachelors Degree required
- Experience managing fulfillment center operations and financials
- Cross functional experience in other areas of supply chain (Replenishment, Transportation / Delivery, Planning and/or Strategy) a definite asset
- Experience building and leading high-performance teams
- Solid organizational, interpersonal, time management and problem-solving skills
- Proven track record of managing major projects on time and on budget
- Experience in Fresh / Food beneficial but not required
